Dirty Pretty Show - The Opening Reception

The opening reception was a spectacular success - with a huge turn out and a record number of sales! Thanks to everyone who came and showed their support.

Dirty | Pretty Show - Opening Reception, Saturday March 21st 5-8PM

Dirty | Pretty, an exhibition of photography by thirteen Los Angeles photographers opens at the Julia Dean Gallery on March 21st and runs through May 22nd. The photographers were challenged to explore the idea of beauty and filth in a city obsessed with those concepts.

As observers of culture, these Los Angeles photographers interpret a society that has become infatuated with pretty (artifice and plastic surgery encouraged) and the various types of dirt (scandals, sex, and plain old dirt). Each photographer - and viewer - brings their own subjective perception to those themes and their junction, dichotomy or conflict.

Dirty | Pretty includes a variety of photographic media – Chromogenic prints, traditional silver prints and Giclée prints. The artists in the show have had solo and group shows. Their works have been published by SilverShotz, Shots Magazine, Ag Magazine, Light Leaks, CMYK Magazine, Lens Culture, F-Stop, File Magazine and JPG Magazine.

DIRECTIONS and PARKING

The Julia Dean Gallery is located at 801 Ocean Front Walk, Studio 8, Venice, CA 90291, between Rose Ave. and Brooks Ave. The cross-streets are Park Ave. and Speedway.

Directions From the 405 North or South Freeway

Take the 405 FREEWAY towards the 10 FREEWAY WEST.
Exit onto the 10 FREEWAY WEST towards Santa Monica.
Follow the directions from the 10 West (below).

Directions From the 10 West Freeway

Take the 10 Freeway westbound towards Santa Monica.
Take the 4th / 5th ST Exit – Exit 1A.
Turn LEFT onto 4th ST.
Turn RIGHT on PICO BLVD.
Turn LEFT onto MAIN ST. Continue on MAIN ST. for one mile.
Turn RIGHT onto ROSE AVE. Continue on ROSE until you get to a stop sign.
Turn LEFT onto SPEEDWAY. Continue to our studio at 801 Ocean Front Walk. We are located on the west side of Speedway - the beach side - and if you make it to BROOKS, you've just passed us by about 100 feet.

PARKING

Three parking lots are available.

The closest parking lot is SUBTERRANEAN, located directly under 801 Ocean Front Walk. Entrance to this lot is off SPEEDWAY. This parking lot is small, and fills up quickly.

The next closest lot is on SPEEDWAY, between Sunset Court and Sunset Avenue (see map).

The third, and largest parking lot is a lot located at the end of ROSE AVE. This lot is located several blocks north of the Gallery (see map).

The above mentioned lots are paid parking. There is also limited free parking available on the side streets, but please allow extra time as these spots may be several blocks away.
